Since it's inception in 1970, RDA has
focused exclusively on governmental accounting solutions.
Originally
operating as a consulting firm working with federal, state and local
governments, RDA entered
the software business in 1980 along with the advent of
the personal computer. Finding no software to meet
the unique needs of fund
accounting, RDA made the decision to develop a solution internally. RDA's root
in
governmental accounting reflects the company's commitment to accounting
solutions and makes it the right
solution for governmental entities.
In 1992, RDA recognized that products
currently on the market were not adequately meeting the needs of larger
governmental organizations. Therefore, it initiated a goal to develop a state of
the art financial accounting software
package with the flexibility, power, and
features required by the larger organizations. Out of this project initially
came
the powerful 5GL Xpert Tools.
RDA used the Xpert Tools
to
develop Xpert (released in 1995) and
MicroBUDGET-GUI
(released in 1999).
These products take advantage of the latest in information
management technology while applying over two decades
of experience in
developing and supporting financial management software throughout the United
States.
In January 2000 RDA licensed the 5GL Xpert Tools as Open Source.
Twelve months later
in January 2001 Xpert and
MicroBUDGET-GUI
were also licensed Open Source. RDA is committed to being a successful open
source software
