In January 2001, RDA announced the Open Source licensing of Xpert and MicroBUDGET-GUI. This revolutionary move provides many benefits to RDA customers including: Budget
Control / Freedom
Service / Support Options
RDA made the decision to go open source based upon several factors.
Many other companies are getting involved with Open Source projects. IBM recently committed $1B to the Open Source Initiative. Sun Microsystems licensed its office productivity suite, Star Office, to Open Source. Mexico saved $124M in a purchase of student computers by choosing Open Source Software vs. proprietary software from Microsoft. Last fall, PITAC (Presidential Information Technology Action Committee) recommended that the Federal Government support the Open Source movement. This is a great recommendation since much of the Internet's infrastructure is based upon Open Source products. RDA feels the time has come for governmental organizations to demand Open Source Software. Please call to find out more about Open Source products from RDA.
